General Education Rules

The intention of General Education is to broaden students' study. Students in the Bachelor of Engineering Surveying and Spatial Information Systems program are required to complete 4 courses in General Education, each worth 3 Units of Credit. Students may take a maximum of one General Education course taught within Engineering.

Students who have recently completed a TAFE surveying diploma have studied sufficient OH&S matters, and are exempt from one General Education course. These students may NOT study GENS8001 Risk Perception and Reality, or GENS8003 Work and Safety, as one of their 3 General Education courses.

Students in the Bachelor of Engineering Surveying and Spatial Information Systems program are EXCLUDED from the following General Education courses:

GENC9002 - Web Information Resources
GENE1011 - From Catchment to Ocean
GENE1012 - Tools for Ecologically Sustainable Development
GENL2020 - Intro to the Australian Legal System
GENL5000 - NO 5000 5020 Business Fundamentals, 5030 Understanding Tax
GENM0515 - NO 0515
GENR0015 - City Planning Today
GENS4013 - The World of Light
GENT1403 - Global Crisis
