Welcome to UNSW GPS Base Station website! This station is owned and operated by the School of Surveying and Spatial Information Systems at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
The aim of this base station is to support teaching and reseach activities specifically in our school but also other schools in the university. From time to time, external parties have also used our data. It is currently provided free of charge to public but without guarantee whatsoever on its quality or availability.
The GPS antenna is mounted on the North pillar on top of the Electrical Engineering building at UNSW's Kensington campus. The antenna is a Leica AT504 with radome (LEIAT504 LEIS). The GPS receiver is located in the same building in the school's Satellite Navigation And Positioning laboratory (SNAP). The receiver is a Leica MC500 controlled by Leica GPS Spider software.
Precise coordinate for the site (TS12079) was surveyed in May 2008 by NSW Department of Lands. A summary is given below. All values refer to the antenna's reference point (ARP).
