What are the essential differences between a code-correlating channel
and a squaring shannel? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Describe the tracking architecture based on continuous channels, and
that based on multiplexing channel(s), and that based on sequential channel(s).
What trends do you expect to see in GPS surveying instrumentation
(software & hardware) over the next few years? Distinguish between those
trends that would be expected to impact across-the-board for all GPS instrumentation,
and those specifically for survey receivers.
How can phase measurements be made on the L2 frequency when Anti-Spoofing
is permanently on? Comment on the strengths and weaknesses of each technique.
What are some of the functions of a GPS surveying receiver? Comment
in particular on the "Human-Machine interface".
As a novice, explain some of the steps you would take to familiarise
yourself with a piece of GPS hardware or software that your organisation
may have purchased and wished to use immediately? Propose an IDEAL training
procedure.
What is the internal consistency of GPS results as established by
FGCS testing (also often described as baseline accuracy)? What factors
influence the quality of the results?
Discuss what elements are tested using different test strategies.
Propose a test strategy for a small surveying company, clearly explaining
the frequency of tests and the objectives of such tests.
