REVIEW QUESTIONS & ACTIVITIES
Comment on the Geometric Range Equation. What do the various terms
mean? Where do they come from? What are the known and unknown quantities?
Where is the datum (and scale) information?
Discuss the difference between a primary GPS data reduction and the
secondary network adjustment.
Describe some ways in which INDEPENDENT double-differences can be
constructed. Give examples.
Why are double-differences CORRELATED? How may we account for the
correlations in a Least Squares adjustment? How can we compute the correlations?
How do cycle slips occur? What is their impact on triple- and double-differenced
data (and hence on these solutions)?
What is the significance of using one-way ambiguity parameters instead
of double-differenced ambiguity parameters? Comment on the structure of
the normal equations.
How is the receiver clock error (or bias) handled in GPS phase processing?
Distinguish between clock error in the observations from time-tag error.
What factors influence the design of the apriori weight matrix for
GPS double-differenced phase observations.
