The Satellite Navigation & Positioning (SNAP) group within the School of Surveying & Spatial Information Systems, The University of New South Wales, since the early 1990s has established itself as the premier academic GPS research and development group in Australia. For many years the SNAP group has been the largest within the School of Surveying & SIS.

The SNAP group has evolved from being a large number of graduate students supervised by one or two academic staff, to the current situation where almost all of the academic/research staff of the School of Surveying & SIS have research interests in the general fields of "Navigation" and "Earth Observation", or "NEO" for short. This SNAP web site is maintained as a portal for information on all activities of the former Satellite Navigation and Positioning Laboratory.
