Past SNAP Projects

Academic staff members of the School of Surveying & Spatial Information Systems now undertake research in fields beyond just "GPS-based satellite navigation and positioning". To better describe the range of activities in the fields of satellite and ground-based wireless positioning, our current research projects are now grouped into four themes:

However, over the last ten years or so SNAP researchers (staff, visitors and graduate students), and their collaborators, have undertaken a variety of research and development projects. On this page can be found short descriptions of projects and research topics that were recently completed.

Inertial Navigation System and 'Dead Reckoning' sensor investigations (1997-2003)
Electric vehicle navigation using carrier phase-based GPS and other technologies (1999-2002)
GPS/GIS and the Cambodian Genocide Mapping Project (1995-1999)
Singaporean multi-reference station testing facility (1998-2002)
Monitoring Indonesian volcanoes using low-cost, continuously operating GPS networks (1998-2002)
'Second generation', GPS-based volcano deformation monitoring system (2000-2002)
Single-frequency GPS receiver densification of continuous GPS networks for geodynamic applications (1997-2000)
'Third generation', precise, kinematic GNSS positioning over short to long baselines (1997-1999)
Combination of GPS and InSAR for ground deformation monitoring (2001-2003)
GPS positioning for helicopter gravity surveys and other 'rapid static' applications (1999-2001)
Addressing mining & industrial positioning applications using GNSS technologies and their augmentations (1999-2003)
Investigations into pseudolite technology and applications (1999-2001)
Implementation of low-cost GPS surveying scenarios (1998-2002)
Guidelines for GPS cadastral surveys in Malaysia (1997-1999)
